Who We Are

Mission & History

Our mission is simple. We want to make our community a better place. We work towards this mission by curating a wide ranging collection of books, films, and other materials, and by hosting a variety of events for all ages. Our materials and events are intended to entertain and/or enlighten you, and we strive to be a source of reliable information in the community.

The Oostburg Public Library began in 1947 when a group of women formed The Library Club, located in the back of The Knotty Pine Restaurant.

Later, the library moved into a back room of the Village Council Room before moving into the current library building at 213 N 8th St, which was constructed in 1989.

Since the beginning, the library has aimed to be an excellent source of knowledge and entertainment for the community, as well as a gathering place for friends and neighbors. With the support of our patrons, we are now more equipped than ever to achieve that goal.
